Everyday is a precious gift from God. I try not to take it for granted. Right now I am constantly trying to find ways to improve my work life balance. I try to incorporate fun ways to exercise and healthy eating habits. I learned with this second chance of life I want to travel around the world and have unforgettable experiences. I have redefined what makes me happy and what is important in life. My life is so much better after I had a heart transplant. Who would of thought, that by almost losing my life, I gained so much more

Some healthy recipe ideas that can be mixed with a little exercise; is visiting a local farm for fresh fruits and vegetables. I did one day after church with my nephews. It was hot that day so I just bought some squash potatoes and peaches. But they do have the option for you to pick the fruit and vegetables yourself. Now that is some fun exercise for everyone! When I got home I sauteed the vegetables with some onions and green bell peppers. I had some Ms. Dash onions and herbs. I then but some skinless boneless chicken breast in the air fryer with some rotisserie seasoning. Yum!

Some fun exercise I enjoy is kayaking at my local park. It really helps my shoulders and upper back that can get really tight and sore after having my chest cut wide open. I also joined my local YMCA where they offer a variety of exercise classes. I like Zumba, Yoga, and water aerobics. Going to these different classes with a group of people helps to keep me motivated when the going gets tough.

Traveling gives me something to look forward to. I remember when I went to Italy last year I was blown away by how much Italians walk on a daily basis. My body was not ready for the hills and the walks just to get to the public transportation. Visiting the famous Colosseum and the surrounding sights are not wheelchair accessible. My legs and feet were in so much pain but I just kept pushing myself to get the most out of the experience. I want to strengthen my muscles so I can enjoy my vacations more. The views alone in St. Martin made me realize that going through those grueling days in the ICU after having a heart transplant was well worth it.

I just learned you have to keep going and keep moving. Many days I do not even want to get started, but I have to remember God thought I was worth saving so I have to show my appreciation every single day by getting out there and doing my best. You can do this! Stay encourage and reach out for support when you need to.
