Grapefruit, grapefruit juice and Bubly Grapefruit Sparkling Waters?
Looking for some advice from anyone on a statin, such as Lipitor, I'm not a huge grapefruit eater, I do indulge in grapefruit sparkling water, and without thinking about it bought two cases and now thinking about it.....Should I be drinking this? The can reads "contains no juice" but also states "natural flavors". I'll gladly check with my pharmacist but just wondering in the meantime. Thanks!

I agree of course check w/ the pharmacist, but I think the warning is for 'large' quanities of grapefruit juice

I was assuming this as well, when consumed in large quantities but if I drink a couple a day....When does it become large quantities? 🙈

Hi Heather, I am curious to know what your pharmacist said? I am on a different cholesterol drug and never even thought to check about food interactions. Now I need to go look too :) Best Katie

I have asked my pharmacist and my cardiologist and my primary doctor this same question because Grapefruit Sculpin IPA was one of my favorite beers and I sometimes like Fresca or grapefruit seltzer as well. Sadly, none of them had an answer. It seems that no one really knows how much is too much and they all advised me not to risk it. I wish I could find out somehow because I'd like to be able to enjoy it if the risk is low enough. I hope you are able to get better answers. - Steve

I've never been a fan of grapefruit so this hasn't affected me but one of the rules set forth by my *** and cardiologist early on was not to take any grapefruit drinks/supplements. I think this would also depend on the concetration/dosage of the anti-cholesterol on how much is too much. Happy health!
