This Is My Story

My name is John Thomas and I have been living with Congestive Heartfailure since 2004, in 1996 I was diagnosed with Lymphoma in which I had a cancerous tumor the size of a small grapefruit attached to my right lung, I went through 6 rounds of chemotherapy and 5 rounds of radiation and was in my eighth year of remission when I started experiencing shortness of breath, waking up in the middle of the night chocking, and swelling in my legs down to my ankles, my head had to be elevated with three pillows in order to sleep, until one day my breathing got worse and I couldn't take five steps without stopping to catch my breath so I went to the emergency room where they admitted me right away when they check my oxygen level and noticed how low it was, I went through several test within my five days of being hospitalized and then was told I had Congestive Heart Failure. I knew nothing about this condition so I had to do a lot of research on ways to live with this problem, the doctor told me there is no cure for what I had, I would have to change my life style and diet to live a fulfilling life, and here I am 12 years later feeling better than ever before. I just want to share my story and hope that it inspire someone else who may be living with this disease or recently diagnosed and know that they can live a full life by eating right and stay moving.
