Second valve surgery

Hi,
I would like to hear from anyone that has had a second valve replacement surgery and if it differed from your first surgery in termcs of recovery, complications etc. I had my aortic valve replaced in 2005 with an edwards bovine valve. There are no issues yet but I know these valves don't last forever. Thank you.

    AHA Ambassador Mark,
I too have an Edwards bovine tissue aortic valve that was implanted in November of 2012. I encourage you to consult with your cardiologist and surgeon at your earliest convenience regarding new advances in "valve-in-valve" replacement procedures. The development and progress that is being made in the products and techniques for replacing existing artificial heart valves is very encouraging. It is my hope that when your valve and my valve might eventually need to be replaced it will be possible to do so without the open chest type procedure that was required for our fisrt valve implants. I wish you continued excellent health and many more years of useful service with your current valve. Heart Valve Ambassador Mark
