I never thought it could happen to me
Well its what many of us think is why I choose this title for my story. Well I am thankful indeed for being able to share my story with many of you. It begins like this, I had been a caregiver for my mother for last 8 yrs and she just recently passed in February so just knowing this I had been under a lot of stress taking care of her daily needs while I guess neglecting my own needs which is what happens when we care for others were so focused on making sure our family is well cared for that we forget ourselves in the process. I had a bad experience when I started noticing changes with my body. One night while resting I got excrutiating jaw pain and left arm pain and mild chest pain it just wouldnt go away so I ask my husband to take me to the ER for a eval , well they ran all kinds of tests and claim to have come up with nothing everything was normal now this was odd to me but im not a Dr. The Dr simply told me that I was having jaw pain maybe due to a dental issue since they were aware I had a partial in my lower portion of my mouth so they basically told me to go home and follow up with my own Dr in a day or 2 . Then approx a week later while working in my backyard I started having the same symptoms and came indoors to rest thnking that maybe it would go away but it became increasly worse I became extremly weak and made my way to the living room and attempted to call for help but my family could hear since they were outside so i gather my strength and got to the front door and told my husband call the ambulance. One the ambulance arrived and I arrived at the hospital I was rushed to catherization lab where I received 2 stents and was advised I had 100% blockage. I remained ithe hospital for 5 days. I have never been so scared in all my life I have since been committed to take better care of myself> I use to smoke about 5 cigs a day and snack and eat anything I wanted WELL not anymore I have quit smoking and eating nothing but healthy foods with low sodium and low fat I am in the process of waiting to start my Cardiac Rehab. I am determined to make change and also bring awareness to others'
