Half Marathon runner
I found out later in life I had a heart murmur but thought in time it would correct itself, well it didn’t! After a routine follow up with my cardiologist he decided to do a routine echo and it showed my aortic valve was calcified from moderate to severe stenosis and that something had to be done. I was running half marathon‘s and had no visible or physical indications that anything could be wrong with my valve. I had my surgery at Duke medical center in Raleigh North Carolina . My surgery went well, I had amazing care but unfortunately I developed a allergic reaction to the heparin that was used when I was on bypass it was called HIT ( Heparin Induced Thrombocytopenia). after this issue was resolved I resumed running half marathons and will finally reach my 100 destination runs December 2019.
