Stroke recovery app or tool?

Hi everyone,

My mom suffered an ischemic stroke a few months ago, and I'm wondering if anyone knows of a good app or tool to help with stroke recovery? Thank you so much!

Good morning, I am so very sorry that your family is having to experience this.  We do not have a specific app, but we have a great deal of information to help both of you on our website Stroke.org and our web sections on  Life After Stroke and Rehabilitation Resources with you. I also except our members with have tips and information they can share as well. Please know that we are here and thinking of you both. Best Katie

The hard thing about stroke is that each stroke is somewhat unique. What did the stroke take from her? For us, each thing taken from my husband had to be addressed specifically. The only thing that helped universally was walking. Once we had him out of his wheelchair and even though it began VERY slowly, walking helped everything. It got us outside and appreciating nature, it increased oxygen and bloodflow to his brain and the rest of his body, and we had fun together. He spoke better, he thought better, his body responded better, and he slept better. I hope this helps!

Hi Elena, yes and yes there are various tools, apps that are of tremendous value.

the first I would recommend is www.brain.rehab it's an amazing portal very comprehensive, I use it on a daily basis.. also a Neuro PT from Orlando DR. Tara Tobias has a great portal as well called rehab HQ. all the best to you and mom!

Thank you so much everyone!! My mom is mostly struggling with depression, managing her calendar and remembering to do things, and just returning to the things she loved to do. When I'm with her, I can remind her and push her to do certain things, but when I leave, she then goes back to her old habits. She's not too tech-savvy but she can work with a smartphone.

I've found different apps and tools that help with each specific problem, but I don't want to overwhelm my mom with so many apps and I was hoping I could just find one app that had everything (or most things) that my mom needs for her care. I guess we'll just have to make do with what's out there...
