Survivors, help!

Hi All,

My 6-year old girl had a stroke after trauma. It has been 3 months and it is a LOT better than when it started.

But we would love to hear positive stories. I feel like we hit the wall. Is the tone going to go away? Is the foot brace going to go away? Is the fluid reasoning going to improve? Thanks God, she got her left side vision back!

Thank you all :)

I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. Each pediatric stroke case is different, but there are a lot of positive stories and these kids can have a bright future. My daughter's stroke was before birth, and she has right sided weakness. She lives a basically normal life and is in grad school currently. She never knew what it was like to have a fully functional right arm/leg so she didn't have to regain, she had to learn how to adapt. She did wear a leg brace for about 10 years.

I invite you to go to our website to get info on pediatric stroke, including some fact sheets we did with the American Stroke Association. We have lots of stories from all over the world as well. www.iapediatricstroke.org

Hopefully you have a good team of specialists and therapists for your daughter. Please let me know if you need resources. Kids can live a full life after stroke. Praying for your daughter to continue to regain function.
