Hi Kathy,
I am sorry to hear about your granddaughter. But you are not alone. Please check out the KISS Facebook group, https://www.facebook.com/groups/KISSPediatricStrokeSupport/ You can ask to join and will meet other families with children who have had strokes. You can also ask if there are others in the area. I believe there are a few others in FL, but I don't know their exact location. You can also visit our website at https://iapediatricstroke.org/
Just to give you inspiration, my daughter suffered a stroke before she was born. She is now 22 and just graduated from University of North Carolina. She will be continuing there in August to get her Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy. She just did a video series for Stroke Awareness Month, giving tips on living with hemiplegia. These kids are determined and I know your granddaughter will amaze you and her parents. Please let me know if I can give you more information or support. There are lots of families out there, so just know there is hope.

Thank you for your email and support. I will forward this to my daughter. I am hoping she will find a local support group.

KathyWoo, I'm sorry to hear about your grand-daughter. Your daughter can call our AHA Stroke Warmline at 1-888-4-STROKE to be connected with all sorts of resources, including a list of in-person support groups in her area. Wishing you and your family the best!
