Pain at rest
I was diagnosed with mild peripheral artery disease in both legs almost 2 years ago. At first i did really well with exercising, eating well and keeping my sugars under control. But for too long now i have not been taking it as serious as i should and have now developed pain in the left leg at rest. This pain has been happening every day for almost 3 weeks now but i have to wait for a call back from the doctor for an appointment. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how i would know if this pain is critical limb ischmeia? I don't just get the pain in the foot. Sometimes it's in the foot or..shin, calf, back of thigh, but never all areas at once. The pain is relieved for the time by a heating blanket or a bath. I also have normal temperature in both feet and legs and can feel a strong pulse in both feet and also no sores or discolouration, just pain! Could it be critical limb ischmeia if it's only causing pain at rest and nothing else?

Good morning, I can share the information we have on PAD. However, I do think you need to call your doctor's office and push them for an appointment ASAP. If the pain is too severe or you experience swelling please go onto the ER for evaluation. I know there is concern about ER's and COVID19, but medical professionals have safety measures in place so that you will receive medical attention in a safe manner.
Please do come back and let us know how you are doing. Best Katie
