Recommendations for recovery chair or chair lift
Hi, I'm new to this group. My husband (52) is getting an aortic heart valve replacement at the end of June. A friend suggested getting a recovery chair and someone else said a chair lift. Has anyone used either one and was it helpful to have? Where would I find one and how often did you use it? Is it something I'd put in the bedroom or is it more for being in a general area of the house like the living room. Any other tips or advice that help with recovery would be much appreciated!

First, I want to wish your husband a safe and smooth surgery and recovery!
As far as chair lifts or recovery chairs, I don't know of any sites off the top of my head. In my experience, I found our La-Z-Boy recliner to be helpful after surgery. I slept in our recliner for a few weeks after I came home from the hospital because I could not sleep lying down. That being said, if you have a recliner already at home, your husband might find that useful.
One thing I would recommend is a shower chair. I needed assistance showering when I got home, for a while, and I could sit and shower. A shower head with a cord extension to use can also be helpful, as well. Additionally, a toilet seat riser helps, too, for trips to the bathroom.
Feel free to ask any other questions you may have as your husband's caregiver. We are here to help!

I agree with the eariler comment. My husband slept in the recliner for the first two weeks after coming home. We also needed to get him a shower chair. These really came in handy for the first month or so! He is having another sugery and we made sure we had the same things on hand!
