Mitral Valve Regurgitation with symptoms
I am 38/f years old and 2 years ago I was told I had mild regurgitation and my symptoms were a few heart palpitations every now and then. I was still able to do everything as normal. It is 2 years later and I have palpations everyday now ans sometimes they "race away" as I call it. I have severe anxiety and took Zoloft for a year, but got off it and was going great for about 4 months, with minimal symptoms. Now it is all coming back. More palpitations and anxiety. I sit and cry most days ans feel guilty about doing it bc I have two beautiful young children. I have little support and have spoken to a physiological at one point but found this unhelpful. All I can think about it not being around to see my children grow up. I don't really know what my question is, just looking for advice.

Good morning ActiveMomof2, I know this is a very hard place to be right now. I had a life-threatening DVT incident 3 years ago and now have a stent in my Iliac Vein. I have had a few panic moments where my leg hurt, or I thought the stent was clogged and even went to far as to have the vascular surgeon to a venogram just to make sure everything was ok.
Have you talked to your cardiologist about the increase in symptoms? The first step in helping to put your mind at ease is to do that appointment. There are medical advances all the time and if your condition is starting to change, there will be options for your care.
Please consider talking to another therapist or returning to Zoloft (or another anti-depressant) if you are medically cleared to do so. There is no stigma attached to getting the help you need to be happy and healthy for you and your children.
We are always here to listen and to support you.
