Lots of coughing and shortness of breath

Hey everyone, Ruth here and my mom was diagnosed with CHF some time ago. I live in another state and due to Covid am now working from home so I can be with her and my dad. She recently had surgery and now has this serious cough with shortness of breath. We don't think it's Covid but I was wondering if anyone has gone through this? Her cardiologist put her on new medication that will prayerfully help calm the symptoms along with diet and some light exercise (she needs a knee transplant so hard for her to do much else). Any feedback would be wonderful and I do appreciate this space!

    Good morning,

I am so sorry to hear that your mother has been experiencing these symptoms. I'd like to share some resources with you on Congestive Heart Failure and Congenital Defects that may be useful to you, but don't hesitate to pose these questions to your mother's cardiac care team. Please continue to update us on how your mother is doing.

    Best Wishes,

    The AHA Team

    Good Morning,

Please know that, especially with recent surgery, those symptoms can be serious. It could indicate an infection,  CHF fluid retention, or even a blood clot. It could also be a simple allergy.

Please call the doctor and get their advice on how to proceed.

    Best to all of you...

Thank you all so much for the resources provided. There was quite a lot of fluid retention that through the use of her diuretic has gone way down and the shortness of breath is all but gone. She still has some coughing but it's way better than it was before.
