Lasix & Low Sodium in blood tests
After Joe, my shusband, had chemo in 2010 was put on Sodium pills to keep his sodium within the normal range. When he was hospitalized last month and diagnosed with CHF he was taken off the sodium pills and was put on lasix. Now his sodium level is dropping. We are in the process of getting an appointment with a Nephrologist, but was just wondering if anyone else has had an issue with this and how it was resloved.
Thanks so much for any help you can offer.

I'm glad you're getting an appointment with the nephrologist - they will be able to give suggestions. It very likely could just be a matter of now having some lab draws every so often to keep an eye on your husband's levels. Such a fine balance between kidneys and heart failure and trying to figure out something that'll help both stay stable. Drinking enough but not drinking too much... I have faith you'll find something that works for him!
Good luck and keep us posted!

Thanks so much for your reply, tryingmybest. This is a new specialist for us. The first appointment they have available is May 3 so will keep our fingers crossed until then. I did ask that he be put on a cancellation list in case they have any openings sooner, of course since he will be a new patient I am sure the time slot needed is longer than established patients.
Thanks again for your input.
Love and prayers to all,

Janet just wanted to send you a big over the internet hug this morning. I don't have any answers or even any ideas with your husbands specific medical situation however I am a caregiver to my husband who was diagnosed with CHF in 2015 so I do share in your world of overwhelming changes. I'm sending you tons of positive energy and I'll keep you and your husband in my prayers .Remember to take time to care for yourself also.
Best regards ,
