ICD Implant surgery
I had my ICD implant surgery yesterday. It went well. I am VERY sore today, though. I was told that the pain will lessen in a few days. I was wearing a LifeVest for almost 4 months, ao I am thrilled to finally be rid of it! Looking forward to healing, and getting my life back. When I woke up in hospital, a nurse was watching the ICD monitor. She told me that the ICD had already started "pacing" my heart, and that I definitely needed it.
It's very strange to have this in my chest. It's very visible. I'm sure over time I will get used to it. Like I said, the area is very tender.
OK, I'm just rambling now... the pain meds must've kicked in! So grateful to be alive!

I wish the very best of luck! I have haf my ICD now since 2005. I have been shocked by my ICD on several occasions. However, I have been shock-free for a little over a year now. I will warn you that being shocked is not a good feeling to say the vety least. It is my hope that you will never need to be shocked. Just follow your doctor's advice and hopefully you will be fine.
