Should People with Heart Disease Exercise?
New guidelines from the European Society of Cardiology recommend that individuals with heart disease should engage in a minimum of 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise per week in addition to strength training at least three times a week if they also have hypertension, type 2 diabetes, or are obese.

I understand the need to exercise but I just had foot fusion surgery and can not bear full weight on my foot. Should I concentrate on stuff I can do from a chair?

As long as your doctor approves, I'd say that's an excellent idea. Just make sure that whatever you do, you aren't in an awkward position that might cause you to hurt yourself. Perhaps you could consult with a physical therapist.
