Sternum pain

I am 18 months post Triple Bypass.  I am still having sharp pains in my chest.  I have read an article on being allergic to the wires used on my sternum. I AM allergic to metals.  Has anyone else had this problem?  I have messaged my cardiologist more than once but not getting an answer. The pain is sharp & doesn't last long, but happens daily.

    Hello there,

Thank you for reaching out to the Support Network. Unfortunately, I'm not a medical professional, but I recommend continuing to contact your cardiologist or looking to get a second opinion from another doctor. If you visit and click "In Your Community" on the top right, you can enter your zip code to find your local AHA office. From there, they can help connect you with specialists in the area and answer any other questions you have.

Please keep us updated on how you are doing.

Hi Djwel, I had pains from what felt like my wires were poking me from the inside for 2-3 years. It eventually quit but it took that long. I've talked to other people who had the same thing. It's a sharp pain. I'm not saying you shouldn't have it checked, if it really scares you please have it checked. Does it feel like a poke?

It's a very sharp pain (like a knife), for a short time > but then I feel achey afterwards.  the cardiologist ordered a chest xray, and just said "everything looks ok, no concerns."

So, like you said, maybe I just live with it > knowing that someone else has experienced it also. I know a few people that have had a CABG and none of them experienced this, I think that is why I got so concerned.

Thank you for letting me know.  I feel better (also that I'm not crazy)

You're very welcome, Jan. Actually to this day I get the stab once or twice a year. I had my bypass in 2012. I hope your pains end soon.
