New to Forum

I am new to this site, I have a dilated cardiomyopathy dx, genetic cause. In my 50's. Would like to connect with others in the Phoenix, AZ metropolitan area for support.

-  adding here, that I dont have anyone close to talk to and feel sad about this. My mom passed away in her mid 50s with this and often I can't stop thinking about it dt my age. Gets me down sometimes.

Thank you,

Hope

    Hello Hope,

I’m sorry I am not in your area. I live in Illinois. But I am going through something similar. I was just diagnosed with cardiomyopathy heart failure in April of this year. My mom and my daughter also had/have it. I am almost 55. My daughter would have neen 36 this year but she passed away at 29 after having a heart transplant for 3 years. My mom has an LVAD and just made 80 years old!

All I can say is this is very difficult for me but talking with people on this forum helps a little.

You are not alone. And I have faith that we will be ok. There are better medicines and more medical advances eveyday. Try not to worry.

Feel free to chat with me anytime. I check for new posts every day or 2-3 times a week.

    Hi Hope,

I too am in Illinois and was diagnosed October of 2018 with cardiomyopathy. Mine is idiopathic. Doctors say probably a virus that attacked my heart.  I to am very sad and upset.

I will be 60 this October and never thought anything like this would happen to me.  Hopefully speaking with some people with the same condition can give us hope that there

are success stories with the medicines available now to provide a good quality of life and have it prolonged.

    Kathy
