Baby it's HOT Outside !
As some of you might know, I live in Florida and we are having a crazy HOT Heat Wave! I am finding it very hard to want to go outside and stay active. I think this article has some helpful hints and encourage our members to take a few minutes and read through it. I also want to know what you all are doing to stay cool and still get some exercise this summer! Best Katie

I used to live in Florida but moved to Western North Carolina to escape the heat. But, It has been very hot already here. We have had temps in the mid 90's and heat idices of over 100.
I plan my exercise for early morning and late evenings once it has cooled down. The heat really bothers me alot and just going out to the backyard or even to the car it causes shortness of breath and discomfort. It takes a while to cool down once back inside. I don't over exert outside at all. So, maybe plan your exercise for those times. It is hard to walk and exercise in the heat with good health as it can cause Heat Exhaustion, Heat Stroke and be fatal to those in good health. Be mindful of the humidity too.
I worked at a nature park for years and we would have people collapsing because of the heat so it is especially important to moderate your activities outside. There are some great workout videos you can get from your public library but consult your physician before trying them.
I wish you continued success in your journey. It is all a new learning experience for us.
Take care and keep sharing!

We do not usually have this problem in Yorkshire, England. I was informed yesterday that I have dilated cardiomyopathy. A bit of a shock, yes. I had been told that my heart was enlarged and weakened, but now I have a name for it, it makes it so much more real and scary to be honest.

Choccy , I am so sorry that you have to deal with this, but super glad you are with our community. I look forward to reading more from you and from our members living with Cardiomyopathy. Do you feel like you have all the resources you need or can I do some research for you? Thanks Katie

Thank you for the tips LuaAnn54, I love to work in the yard and normally do that early in the morning. I am a morning person and mowing at 7:30 am is great. My neighbors LOVE ME, I am sure. Have a wonderful weekend. Best Katie
