I was diagnosed with AFib a year and a half ago, I know what an AFib palpitation feels like. About 2 weeks ago I went out to a “guys weekend” and had a few drinks over the course of the day. Not much, maybe 5 over the course of six hours. I was not eating great, which is on me. Went to bed and woke up with my heart racing around 130-140 bpm. It would slow to my normal 50-60bpm for a few minutes, then jump for a few minutes. It was in normal sinus rythym, just very fast. I took my fleccianide as it was close to my usual dose time anyway, this seemed to help and calmed everything down. Then on Monday my heart was missing beats or adding extra, Tuesday it was back to normal. So Wednesday come and it is unsettled, adding beats not have a constant pulse, never out of normal sinus. Then Last night (Wednesday) I layed down for sleep and could not get settled with my heart being weird. Then my pulse jumped to about 130 for about 5 min. Then calmed down and was perfect the rest of the night. Today, it just feels weird. Not out of rythym, there is some adding of beats but mostly it is this anxious feeling. That is the best way to describe it. I have an EP appointment on the 28th, should I wait and see if it normalizes? Should I call and talk to someone today?

@fuzzybuddha, I'd call now if you are concerned. If you have a patient portal, another option is to report your symptoms to the cardiologist and see if they want to see you sooner too. I'm a believer in not guessing when it comes to the heart.

I agree with NewPacer73, call whenever you have questions or concerns. Best Katie

Thank you! I just got off the phone with them. They think it is nothing to worry about. There was some confusion on my part about when to use the Diltiazem. Evidently I should have used in when my heart jumps above 110bpm. Normal sinus or not. I though it was only during an AFib episode. Have a 30 mile bike ride this weekend and was worried it was something major that I should have been more worried about. Thank you all!

@Fuzzybuddha, great news! Enjoy that bike ride. Am on Diltiazem too! Take care!
