Miracles Exist
I was 33 weeks pregnant when I was rushed to the emergency room for an emergency c-section. A rare heart condition (peripartum cardiomyopathy) had caused cardiac arrest. My heart condition worsened to the point of needing a heart transplant.
I was connected to ECMO life support to buy some time. Fortunately, a heart transplant wasn't needed and after 19 days of hospitalization I finally got to go home and meet my baby girl who was discharged on the same day.
It has been nearly a two year long recovery, but I am now nearly weened off all my heart medications and am grateful to have a second chance at life and I am beyond happy to have the opportunity to raise my daughter.
My goal by sharing this story is to inspire hope in others.
