50yr old and I had a heart attack...
August 29th, 2018; I had my heart attack. I spent 20 daya in ICU and when I finally regained consciousness the Drs informed me that I crashed on the table while they were installing the stints. They used a Lucus, put me on ECMO, I got phnumonia, and also had dyalisis while in ICU.
I was told that I had the mother of a heart attack - the "widow maker" - its a good thing I was on the table when it happened!!!
Anyway; been home for 2 weeks now; and am recovering. starting to walk without a cane :) Have a little chest pain from CPR, otherwise doing good. Cant get my head around what happened though.

Good morning, I wanted to direct you to our Heart Attack conversation forum as well. If you have not already made a post, sharing your story there is a great idea as well! Best Katie

I am glad you found our community here on the AHA Support Network. Sounds like you had a rough experience but I'm glad you are on the mend. Coming to terms with life after a cardiac event can be complicated and fraught with a whole new world of things. My advice would be to just take things really slow. Keep doing what you are doing but show yourself a little empathy. Give yourself time to both heal and adjust.
One of the things I used to do is to stand in front of the mirror in the morning and tell myself that I had a heart attack. It helped me to start the grief process. Your Dr. will most likely prescribe a program called Cardiac Rehab. It's an excellent place to learn what you need going forward and at your own pace with experts around to help you along the way.
Let us know if we can do anything to help or if you just want someone to talk with.

two weeks ago today I went in for a heart cahterization and woke up to have had angioplasty with a stent placed midway in my LAD. Since that day I have had pressure and achy pains in the middle of my chest. I am so scared now that I don't know what is happening. My heart flops like a bucket of fish have been dumped in the middle of my chest. I never had pain before the cath. onlly pressure down my arm to the elbow and into jaw. Constant fatigue and SOA. I still have the same symptons only now a stabbing feeling in the middle of my chest. I am afraid I will let myself have a heart attack because I'm not sure what I am feeling. Scared in KY.

sksimp, thank you for sharing. Have you talked to your doctor about this? My encouragement is to have that be your very next phone call this morning. Then let us know what is said, so we can help support you through this time. Best Katie

Good morning Brooklyntom, Welcome to the Support Network and thank you for sharing what happened to you. Recovery is hard, both mentally and physically, there is NO doubt about that. Please know that you are among people who understand and want to be supportive of you. Which leads me to my next question. What do you need at this time, were you able to do cardiac rehab? Please know that we are here for you and have many shared experiences with you. Best Katie
