Location pop up
I have question ....how do I disable the American Heart association pop up for location . Everytime I move anywhere on the site the location pops up. I do not use location pop up. on anything to do with the computer. It becomes very redundant....

Is it the Heart Walk pop up? That should have an opt out button. Is it possible for you to tell me a bit more about it? Thanks Katie

Yes, It is a pop titled American Heart Association asking me for OK to allow the information about my location to be sent to you

Heartfe6878, have you tried checking "Don't Allow" and also the "remember for one day box" - this seems to shut it up for me.
HOWEVER - AHAASAKatie, why is the website asking to use my locating in the first place? Why does it need my location ? - this is a dubious privacy-violating request to start with, and (1) should be accompanied by an explanation of why it is asking, and (2) should not be asking over and over again - it should take the first "no" as a permanent answer.

It always asks to use your location. Not the Heart walk. Every. Time.

Thank you for letting me know that this is an issue. I can tell you that the location request should only "screen pop" once a day and the fact that it is popping over and over does indicate there is a technical problem. I have submitted a request for this to be resolved and will respond back to this thread with updates and information.
In regards to why we ask for your location, it is my understanding that this is a part of a larger AHA project on providing geo-targeted information about local Heart Walks and "virtual heart walks." Providing this information is NOT a part of registration and should be completely voluntary. If you are experiencing issues with it, please let me know right away.

Hello! I have a response from our technical folks on this.
"The location popup is a privacy item that all browsers are required to prompt for getting the consent of the user in order to collect their Location coordinates. Typically user has three choices: Accept for a session, Always Accept or Block. What users may be running into is they might only be accepting for a session so if they come back it will prompt for consent again. If they choose Always Accept it will keep that setting. This isn’t specific to AHA. If this is on a Members page and they don’t want to see it again, they can simply hit Don’t Allow. The user can optionally disable Privacy settings in any browser as well."
I have some samples of what the pop-ups are supposed to look like. Please let me know if this helps and if not let's talk more about what is actually happening and we can keep working on this. Thanks Katie
