So glad to have this support group!
Hello. I told my GP how much I was struggling after having an ICD placed, and how hard it was to deal with the diagnosis of Ventricular Tachycardia, and she found this support group for me. The V-Tach so different than the separate illness that I have had for 25+ years. That illness is constantly present, but I am an active participant in managing it. I have a team of doctors, apps that prompt me to self-evaluate during the day, schedules to follow, and medication changes. I have so many coping mechanisms, too, for when things are bad.
This new illness is much different, starting with how I need to have faith that the the device will work when/if it needs to, but the biggest struggle is with my cardiologist and his administration.I don't want to go too far into it, but one simple example is that they didn't set up my 2-week post-ICD appointment and I had to keep calling to finally get an appointment 6 weeks later so I could learn what the name of my illness was. I've seen that many others in this forum have similar problems. After my 6-month appointment I am going to switch to a different cardiologist who was recommended to me by one of my oher physicians.
I'm so glad that there is this resource where people can ask questions and get such respectful responses. That's already been a huge help. I posted a question yesterday about the day-to-day of having an ICD, after reading other posts for a few weeks.
Thank you all, and thank you American Heart Association for the group, and for the great articles.

Thank you so much for sharing with us! I did read your post on the Cardiac Arrhythmia section as well, which will probably be a community more aligned with your condition/treatments. Either way, WELCOME. We are glad you are here. Best Katie
