Question

Why do I still receive these things occasionally?  Today it was information from March 2018, in which Mellanie mentioned the new [sic]  format coming in.   Then, below it were the following, which seem to be written by folks who are not AFibbers (I did not follow their links) and who do not write clearly, either.  I take it that they are some sort of spam?     --Thumper2 (Judy)

Good morning Thumper2, these are examples of spammers that post random nonsense on online communities. We do have some protections in place to cut down on the worst offenders, which is why you do not receive these on daily basis. We remove the post and block the spam account when this happens. However, this is the internet and incidences such as this will continue to happen, as frustrating as it is for all parties involved. In the future, please feel free to email an example of the spam post to SupportNetwork@heart.org for removal. Best Katie

    Judy,

Please be patient with these, and us. They come in overnight, generally from Russia or Eastern European countries, which are 7-10 hours ahead of us. They post them when they know it is nighttime for us. In the case of the one last night, it was timed to hit just before the digest goes out at midnight Central time so we would be unable to do anything about it before it hit the digest, and thus everyone would see it. We handle these first thing each morning, but it is a continual game of "whack-a-mole" between the spammers and forum owners. It's frustrating, but please give us some grace as we handle them as quickly as possible.

    Mellanie
