Hi, does anyone have any info about using lithium while having been diagnosed with afib. My understanding is lithium could disturb normal heart rhythm. So im not sure it would be a good option for me. Anyone else have any insights?

I took Lithium while I was in AFib. Doc said there would be no issue. I even had a pharmacist to review all of my meds and cross those to my conditions and side effects. Li came back clean. So, I never had an issue. Are you on other Psych drugs?

Hi Spencer good to hear from you. My doc suggested I take care of any untreated depression and anxiety I my have to take care of my afib. So I went to the local psych doc and they suggested prozac and limictal. The prozac helped tremendously but the limictal is another story, I broke out with a rash and thought it was steven Johnson sydrome... So I discontinued use after the second dose... Now I'm in search of a different mood stabilizer to help. Im thinking lithum would make a good alternative since limictal may burn my skin off literally. Im currently on amiadron 100mg and xerelto 25mg for another month. EP doc days the ablation maybe a success but not 100% till ofc all meds. But the prozac is helping tremendously for my anxiety, so im hopeful.

Good deal that you got into a shrink to talk about depression and anxiety. Mine was so bad that it made my ablations and cardioversions unsuccessful, so I think taking care of these two conditions is critical to the Afib recovery. Very good that you stopped taking the Lamictal with the skin rash, which can be very serious and life-threatening. The shrink will recommend a good drug for the mood stabilizer. They are very good at prescribing different drugs with each visit. The attached photo was my drug regime at one point. I am down to about half and hoping to cut that again by half next time I see the shrink (call him "the walrus" long story, but that is his nickname).
So talk with all the docs you have on what you are taking. Also, you might want to look online for one of the side effects websites. You enter in all your drugs, and it tells you the possible interactions and percentage of possible side effects. You need to be as educated as possible on this. I also want to recommend a website that I also post on (under the screen name of Thor) that helps with depression, anxiety, PTSD, Bipolar, and such. A good core group of posters and a very informative site: https://www.dailystrength.org

Hey Spencer, nice assortment of pill bottles. Just imagine someone with afib who took limictal for the first time, developed a rash the second day and researching steven Johnson syndrome, photos included. LoL. I'll keep you posted, tell what they put me on next...

Please do. I have lots of experience with a wide number of psych drugs.
