Congenital Heart Defect - Transposition of the Great Vessels - Heart Transplant List
I'm 43 years old and I was born with transposition of the great vessels (tgv). I also have a **** in my heart which created a way of compensation so it was never corrected. I also was born with other anomolies. I have complete situs inversus, cervical degenerative disc disease, skin tags on my ears and gitelman's syndrome (where my kidney's waste all electrolytes). For the past 3.5 years, my heart function has been decreasing and last year, it was discovered that my right ventricle was "sluggish". My cardio dr. recommended that I be evaluated for a heart transplant. I was identified as a high priority and was accepted on the donor list effective this January.
I have been trying to cope with accepting that I will need surgery and I have a lot a fears about it. My family can't really relate and I glad to join this site. It makes me feel that I am not alone.
