Scared of high bp

Hi, I'm new here and as diagnosed with hi blood pressure 6 months ago. I am 54 yr old female. I am on clonidine hcl.  My blood pressure still seems to go.up and down. I went to the store last night, came home and my bp.was 162/90. I thought this med would keep it from getting that high?? Doing any physical stuff it goes up but does come back down later. I am new to this do any advice or support would be so appreciated. Thanks,

You really have to talk with your cardiologist about all of this...your BP, exercising, what exercises you can and should be doing...etc. Blood pressure going up during physical activity and then coming down later is normal. But exercise is good for the heart and BP. If you have your doctor's approval, exercising to gradually increasing intensity over time will be good for your BP. Have you considered any kind of physical therapy? Therapists are very good at guiding you toward targeted exercises especially those that work with patients in cardiac rehab.

I think you should also share what's happening with your BP with your doctor. They may want to adjust your meds. This happened to me when my BP became a little too low after being put on meds.

Please share any updates. Wishing you well.
