Long distance transportation
Sooo..my family and I had a care conference today with my mom's medical team. As some of you may know, our goal is and always has been to take her back home to Texas from Wisconsin. They tell us she would need to be transported via ambulance. She only has Medicaid and they do not cover long distance ambulance transportation. I've received several estimates and the prices are a bit freightning. They range between $11-15,000.
Does anybody know of any resources where I can find better prices for long distance transportation??
Thanks in Advance,
A stressed daughter

Thank you for coming to us with this. I have three resources for you to try.
The Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF) at www.patientadvocate.org The PAF is a national non-profit organization that serves as an active liaison between the patient and their insurer, employer, and/or creditors to resolve insurance, job retention, and/or debt crisis matters relative to their diagnosis through case managers, doctors, and attorneys. PAF seeks to safeguard patients through effective mediation assuring access to care, maintenance of employment, and preservation of their financial stability.
Another option is to contact the Patient Advocacy Network (PAN) at www.panfoundation.org and also United Way at 211.org.
My thought is that while these agencies might not be able to help, they may have suggestions for you to investigate.
Please let me know if any of this helps your family's situation.
