Husband Multiple strokes

My husband just had his 4th stroke  in 4 months while in the hospital with his 3rd. They have done all normal tests and the show no reason for any stroke let alone 4.  He recovered from 1st and 2nd, now his speech is very bad and has tube fur feeding as his swallowing is compromised, has lost most movement in right side , first one was his left side weak. I don’t know where to go from here.

So very sorry to hear about your husband.  If you haven’t done so already, I would ask to meet with speech, occupational and physical therapists ASAP and see how they can help.

My husband had two strokes within a week.  The second one really messed with his speech.  Thankfully, he doesn’t problems swallowing or any other physical issues.  We began speech therapy 3x/ week and OT 1x/week.  Since April, we’ve seen huge progress.

Repetition is key, whether with exercises or speech.  Make time, every day, to work on various skills.

Hang in there as best as you can!  I’m learning, more and more, to take time for myself, as well.  Being a caregiver is incredibly rewarding but it’s quite draining and exhausting, as well.
