Free 1:1 online cardiac rehab exercise resource

Hi folks, I’m now the caregiver for my dad that had a HA back in early September. First, I wanted to say thank you. It’s been hard with everything else going on and I’ve really appreciated the support and reassurance I've gotten from reading posts from this group.

I know something I have struggled with for my dad is getting him into a rehab program. I’ve been nervous because dad wanted to start exercising at home because he couldn’t get into a program because of all of the gym closings. I did some research and found a free virtual cardiac rehab program. So far, dad has really benefited from their 1:1 sessions. It’s all online and they give him exercises to do while they monitor his progress as well as talk to him about healthy eating (something I get tired of constantly doing!). I can really tell that he has been getting progressively better. We’ve been thankful for this resource, especially in this really weird year. Dad mentioned after his session yesterday that they’re offering more free sessions to help out during COVID and I thought this group might benefit. Dad has really loved working with his Exercise Physiologist, and they have really helped him stay active during COVID. I’ve included a link to their website below - hope anyone who needs it can take advantage of it. I know dad has really loved it!

Here’s a link to their website where you can sign up:

Stay safe out there!

Thank you so much for sharing this resource.

Because the AHA is not able to recommend or promote any resource beyond our own science-based materials, I do need to make sure that if our members choose to use this, they check with their cardiologist and the medical team beforehand, just to be on the safe side.

Thank you again for thinking of our community and sharing your Dad's experience. Best Katie
