Matt Hammond – Amanda’s Recovery
Matt and Amanda moved to a new life in New Zealand from the UK with their 2 children in 2002. In February 2017 Amanda, then just 52 years old and with no prior warning signs or risk factors came home from work, sat at the kitchen table and said.
'Matt, I think I'm having a stroke.'
As she lay in intensive care, Matt posted regular updates on Facebook to keep friends and overseas family informed. As she slowly improved people were so encouraged by her progress and inspirational story they suggested Matt's posts should be read more widely. So he transcribed the posts into a blog... and kept writing.
Matt and Amanda have used Constant Therapy as part of Amanda’s recovery from her stroke. Constant Therapy is a speech therapy app that offers evidence-based, clinically validated results with over 65 categories of speech, language and cognitive therapy. For each subscription sold they will donate 10% to the American Stroke Association.
Bluebananablog.com has been viewed nearly 50,000 times from more than 100 countries and has encouraged and continued to inspire stroke recoverers, carers and health professionals as Amanda continues to recover a little every day.
