Madelaine E. Faulkner, MPH – My Research
The Health eHeart Alliance is a Patient-Powered Research Network with a mission of getting patients involved in research that matters to them! Our focus is in cardiovascular health and you can join us in the fight against heart disease.
As part of PCORI (Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute), the Alliance has had a unique opportunity to build, with patients, processes to facilitate the inclusion of patient voices in the research process. We think there is a tremendous value to including patients on your research team from the very beginning. When patients are involved early in the process, it can be a learning process for both parties: patients get to learn about research and outcomes that can affect their health; researchers can shape studies to better reflect what patients are worried about and build a study that is more meaningful to the patients it will ultimately serve.
The Alliance has been facilitating a talented group of patient leaders (the Adaptors) for a big study looking at the effectiveness of different aspirin doses. Learn more about how this study is transforming research. The Adaptors are real-life patients like you and they have teamed up with researchers to make a difference for patients. We are thrilled to bring you perspectives from our Adaptors that reflect on different aspects of why they have gotten involved with research. They will share patient stories, how they have contributed to the team, and what is interesting to them in the research process. We hope you will learn a little more about the research and feel encouraged to become a patient leader yourself!
