Join a Conversation to Empower Caregivers
Have questions about how to improve communication between caregivers and patients? We know that caregiving can present a variety of challenges, including personal and professional stress, financial burdens, lack of information and more. Addressing communication issues can help drive solutions that empower caregivers to best support patients.
This July, the American Heart Association is collaborating with the Coalition to Transform Advanced Care (C-TAC) to convene a free Regional Research Forum at the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas, Texas. We’ll be examining two Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI)-funded research studies and one PCORI-funded seminar program that has the potential to significantly improve communication between caregivers and advanced illness patients. These projects address improving communication for chemotherapy, training for family caregivers in team-based decisions and assessing transitional care services.
We’re aiming to place these PCORI projects in the hands of implementors – health system leaders, providers, payers, community and state organizations, and others – who can use the PCORI research findings to implement systemic changes to improve caregiver satisfaction and patient outcomes.
Speakers include Eduardo Sanchez, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Prevention and Chief of the Center for Health Metrics and Evaluation, American Heart Association; Supriya Mohile, MD, Professor of Medicine, Oncology, and Geriatrics, University of Rochester Medical Center, Rochester, NY; Jing Li, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine, University of Kentucky Center for Health Sciences Research, Lexington, KY and John Schall, CEO, Caregiver Action Network. Speaker presentations will be followed by an audience Q&A and a short networking reception.
