HEART ATTACK IS SCARY AND CONFUSING. RECOVERY SHOULDN'T BE.

After a heart attack, you're told to focus on recovery. Then you're left to figure it out. What are the next steps? Where do you find reliable information? How do you make good health habits and stick to them? Or keep track of medications and doctor's appointments? And with all that to worry about, how do you keep from getting too overwhelmed to move forward? 
Those are just the kinds of questions that inspired the American Heart Association to develop My Cardiac Coach, a free mobile app that can make your recovery much easier to manage.
 My Cardiac Coach is a personalized recovery tool kit you carry in your smartphone. It gives you anytime/anywhere access to everything you need, including:
 
 
  • Trustworthy information from the experts at the American Heart Association
  • Interactive lessons to help you learn what you need to know
  • Progress-trackers for monitoring blood pressure and weight
 
  • Tools for logging physical activity and managing medications
  • Connections to other survivors through our Support Network
 
As a member of our Support Network, you're invited to download My Cardiac Coach free of charge before it becomes available to the public. All we ask in return is that you share your feedback with us via online survey after using the new mobile app.

    Do they have one for cardiac arrest survivors?

    The doctors and nurses I have personally spoken to about what I did in my recovery, in diet and exercise, and the level I achieved despite a prognosis of no hope give me great confidence in all I learned. They all had heard almost nothing of the research I found, despite the profound impact it had for me. Very little of that discovered knowkedge is on the AHA website that I could find, leaving the site a good decade or more behind much of modern knowledge. Counting steps is good. But many people are encouraged to do too much too fast. Leaving them more tired and more discouraged. It does NOT need to be that way.

    I hear you. Unfortunately I am 64 and not on medicare. Dr wanted me to do Cardiac Rehab, I called and signed up and the lady told me I had a $500 co pay. Ok a lot but doable so I paid yesterday when I went and filled out all the paperwork. Today is my first day so I show up and she said I need another $500 check. I said I paid that and she said NO you have a $500 co pay everytime I come and work out. Isn't that the craziest thing you have ever heard of??? Who can pay $1500 a week for a short exercise program? It is much cheaper than that to pay out of pocket but insurance won't let me do that. There is no other options in my area. No wonder they say there is so much anxiety with a heart attack. Guess my insurance would rather me die that help me protect from another one.... insane.

    Does anyone know if this app designed strictly for heart attack victims or might it be useful for anyone who has experienced heart problems such as CAD? Thanks.
